How we can help you

We provide an extensive range of optical services; Eye Examinations (Private and NHS), Contact Lenses Assessments, Diabetic Testing, Glaucoma Testing, Cataract Assessments and more.

Eye Examination

Whether its NHS or Private, Under 16 or Over 60, our eye examinations are very thorough. Lasting approximately 45mins, our optometrists  will look closely at all aspects of your vision and eye health.

A few questions will be asked about your sight, general health and medications, your family’s health and your lifestyle. There are various different tests that can be carried out during your eye examination, which will be  tailored  to suit your individual needs. While examining  your eyes, our optometrists  will look at:

  • Vision quality
  • Unaided and aided vision (with any glasses or contact lenses you already use)
  • Eye muscle performance and health
  • External and Internal eye health
  • Eye pressure

Further tests for depth perception, colour vision and visual field may also be performed where required.

Our optometrists will provide step-by-step explanations so you know exactly what is involved at each stage

Contact Lens examination and Aftercare

More than three million people across the UK enjoy the benefits of wearing contact lenses. Offering the freedom from wearing glasses, contact lenses look more natural, provide an unobstructed view, are unlikely to get lost and are not affected by fogging or rain.

Before fitting lenses, our Optometrists will thoroughly discuss all the options available to suit your lifestyle. Together with a detailed microscopic examinations of the anterior segment of the eye we will check  the curvature of the cornea, assess tear film quality and other factors that will affect how your lenses fit.

Regardless of whether you are long or short sighted or even have astigmatism, almost everyone who needs eyesight correction can now wear contact lenses. There are also multifocal options for those who need different lens powers for distance and close work or only have reading glasses.

So whether you want to wear lenses everyday or even just occasional use we aim to find the perfect solution for your eye care needs.

Regular contact lens aftercare are advised as it allows our optometrists to check the contact lenses are not affecting the external eye health and are providing the best vision possible. Our optometrists will also discuss new types of contact lenses available if they feel they may suit your visual needs better

OCT

An Optical Coherence Tomography scan (commonly referred to as an OCT scan) helps us to view the health of your eyes in greater detail. It allows our optometrists to see a cross-section of the back surface of your eyes, providing more detail than ever before.

This non-invasive test works in a similar way to MRI and ultrasound scans, using light waves to produce a 3D image of your eye. It measures the thickness and maps the distinctive layers of the retina. These measurements help with the early detection and diagnosis of retinal diseases and conditions such as age-related macula degeneration, glaucoma, diabetic retinal diseases and many other eye problems.

Digital retinal photography is also included with the OCT scan to further aid accurate diagnosis of eye related issues. When the scan is done our optometrist are happy to discuss, show and explain all the results.

OCT scans are part of our routine eye examination but is definitely a worthwhile addition.
